The Naked Truth About The Naked Cake

Everything is better naked, especially cake. To be honest, this trend took getting used to. Aesthetically these “naked” cakes don’t catch your eye right away, especially, when compared to the extravagantly decorated wedding cakes we’re used to seeing. When we first noticed these bare cakes, we quickly thought, “someone forgot to frost that thing!”. It was like having that dream where you forgot to where clothes to work. Except it wasn’t a dream and we began to fall in love with these nude creations.

While the naked cake looks simple, we had a lot to learn about this tasty trend. There are multiple types of naked cakes, for example, the traditional naked cake (layered tiers of cake with frosting in between each layer), the almost naked cake (a very light layer of frosting), the floral naked cake (features floral accents), and the irresistible decadent chocolate naked cake (it’s one of our favorites!). Each naked cake features its own unique characteristics and can be created to fit your own personal style.

We got a sugar rush exposing the naked cake, but, it was worth it. These simple, yet, stunning cakes are one of our favorite wedding trends. No matter what style or theme of wedding you choose, you can feel confident that there is a naked cake for you and your personal style. We love that naked cakes looks amazing without the heavy fondant that can dry the cake out and they look fabulous with the perfect cake topper. Whether you cover it in flowers, berries, or drizzle it with chocolate or salted caramel naked cakes are a great idea to showcase at your wedding.
